Stats and Highlights: Steph Curry records triple-double in Warriors’ loss vs. Ja Morant’s Grizzlies

Steph Curry’s battle against Ja Morant lived up to the hype.

Both point guards put their skills on display in a back and forth tilt between the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.

Morant struck first, scoring 15 points in the first quarter. Behind the Murray State product, the Grizzlies jumped out to a double-figure lead in the first half. However, Curry and the Warriors were able to counter Morant’s opening punch with an explosive third quarter.

After halftime, Curry dropped 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor with a pair of triples in the third quarter alone. Behind Curry’s fireworks, the Warriors climbed back into the game to gain the lead before the fourth quarter.

Curry’s fiery third quarter set the guard up for a triple-double performance. The current Western Conference-leading vote-getter tallied a team-high 27 points on 8-of-21 shooting from the field with 10 rebounds, 10 assists and two steals in 39 minutes.

While Curry racked up the numbers in the boxscore, Morant was able to secure the victory. With a couple of clutch buckets down the stretch, Morant helped lead the Grizzlies over the Warriors for their 10th consecutive victory, 116-108.

Against Curry and the Warriors, Morant notched a game-high 29 points on 11-of-23 shooting from the floor with eight assists and five rebounds in 27 minutes.
