Statement over police plane that was seen circling over Nottinghamshire

Officials have explained the reason why a police plane was spotted circling over Nottinghamshire late at night. The aircraft could be seen above the borough of Broxtowe at around 11pm on Tuesday, April 26.

The plane, which belongs to the National Police Air Service (NPAS), was seen by residents across the borough. It was mainly circling just east of Strelley, according to tracking app Flight Radar.

After being approached by Nottinghamshire Live, NPAS said that the plane was assisting Nottinghamshire Police in the search for a suspect vehicle. It said the aircraft spent 12 minutes in the area.
