Statement over Hyson Green fire that spread to a house and 3 cars

A man has been left injured after a fire broke out in a garden in Hyson Green - the flames spreading to a house and three cars. The man, who is conscious, is being treated by paramedics for burn injuries.

Firefighters were called out to the garden fire at Aspley Place, off Bentinck Road between its junctions with Alfreton Road and Peveril Street. The incident was reported just after 1pm on Friday, April 22.

The emergency service cordoned off Bentinck Road and local shops have been affected by the disruption. Two fire engines from the Stockhill and London Road fire stations were called out.

In a statement, a spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "There has been a garden fire at Aspley Place. We received a call at 13.02 today.

"It's currently ongoing, we've got two fire engines there from Stockhill and one from London Road. The garden fire spread to three cars and also a house.

"We've got two firefighters with breathing apparatus committed and a hose reel jet has been used. We've got one male casualty who is conscious with burn injuries and he's being treated by East Midlands Ambulance Service."
