Statement issued as travellers pitch up at Nottingham park

A group of travellers have been ordered to leave after pitching up at a park in Nottingham. A group of at least eight caravans were spotted in Stockhill Park, off Stockhill Lane in Basford, at around 9.30am on Wednesday, April 27.

Photographs show at least eight other vehicles alongside the mobile homes, which are parked in the middle of the field in the Nottingham City Council-owned park. The council said it had served a notice for the travellers to leave.

It added that if they failed to do so bailiffs would be brought in to carry out an eviction. A spokesman for the city council said: "We have served a notice to leave and if they fail to adhere to the notice we will instruct bailiffs to carry out an eviction."

It comes just days after travellers were seen in Lenton Abbey Park. A group were also seen using a disused car park in Bingham as a 'pit stop' earlier this month.
