A joint investigation is expected to be launched today as emergency services probe the cause of a gas substation fire near Stapleford.
Fire crews and the police were called to Pit Lane, off Stapleford Road in Trowell, shortly before 6pm on Tuesday,last night (March 16) as the blaze took hold.
Residents in the area were evacuated from their homes and told to go to a local community centre while works took place to put out the fire.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed no crews are currently at the scene this morning (March 17) following the blaze.
However, the fire service plans to launch an investigation alongside the police later today to find the cause of the incident.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "At present we have no crews on scene.
"A fire investigation is planned to be conducted later today in conjunction with the Police to ascertain the cause of the fire.
"Last night we had crews from Stapleford, Highfields, Ilkeston, a water carrier from Loughborough in attendance as well as being supported by our Police and EMAS colleagues.
"We would like to thank local residents for their support whilst we dealt with the incident."
Gas firm Cadent joined emergency services at the scene on Tuesday evening and has started emergency works in the area to make repairs.
The works are set to last until 11.59pm on Tuesday, March 23, according to an online roadwatch site, with drivers warned to expect delays.
