A huge house fire in Radcliffe on Trent was started by accident, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has found. Around 30 firefighters and six appliances were tackling the fire in Cropwell Road at one stage on Monday, May 9.
A woman was also saved from the blaze, which was reported at 12.30pm and forced the closure of the main road. The fire was mostly extinguished by 4.30pm.
Phil Revill, group manager, said at the time: "When we arrived, the roof was on fire from one corner to the next and the first floor was also involved - so quite a challenging incident for the crews involved. The information when we got here was that the mother of the occupant was still in the property, very quickly we managed to get her out of the property and to safety. She's fine."

In a tweet published at around 12.30pm on Tuesday, May 10, the fire service confirmed they had left the scene." We've now left the scene, after crews monitored overnight to ensure the fire was fully extinguished," they said.
"Following a fire investigation, the cause of the fire has been deemed accidental. Thank you to members of the public for your patience while we worked to tackle the fire."
