Firefighters were called to an outside rubbish fire at Chilwell Retail Park.
Crews were called at around 8.20pm on the evening of Thursday, December 16.
It took around 15 minutes for workers to extinguish the fire outside of Chillwell's TK Maxx.
Witnesses had reported seeing fire engines heading towards Attenborough Nature Reserve at around 8pm that night.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to TK Maxx in Chilwell Retail Park at about 20 past eight last night to deal with an outside rubbish fire.
"We were only there for about 15 minutes."
