State government promises MPA Rs 10 crore for trainee building

NASHIK: Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday promised Rs 10 crore for construction of a trainee building at Nashik-based Maharashtra Police Academy (MPA) that conducts training for recruits of the rank of sub-inspectors and assistant commissioners.

The request for the funds for creating new buildings with better training facilities and recreational activities was presented by state home minister Dilip Walse-Patil during his address at the passing out parade held at the MPA on Sunday wherein 322 cadets, including 12 women, made it to the police department. Pawar, during his address said, “Such things have to happen in time and there is no point in delaying things. We will provide all the funds required.”

Pawar also said that 7,231 vacant posts in the police force would be soon filled and time-bound promotion will be implemented that would mean a person recruited as peon would retire as sub-inspector. The deputy chief minister also cautioned the new recruits against subscribing to any communal, religious or political ideologies and to stick to their profession of ensuring justice for the common man.

While inaugurating the Detective Training School in Nashik, Pawar underlined the importance of the facility and hoped better training and the right ambience would further help the ‘in-service’ trainees to quickly learn and adapt the modern ways of investigations to take the case to a logical end.

State’s largest hostel to come up in Mumbai

Pawar also informed that the state government will build the state’s largest hostel for students in Mumbai.

While addressing the gathering following inauguration of the women’s hostel in Nashik city, Pawar said that the proposed hostel in Mumbai will come up on a 3-acre land in Bandra and students from all caste and religions will be given admission in proposed hostel. Meanwhile, the women hostel — Matoshri located at Dhatrak Phata area in Nashik city — will accommodate 200 women students. As many as 50 students from Economically Weaker Sections are to be given admission to this hostel through higher technical education departments.
