V Consol, the videoconferencing platform developed by the Kerala- based start-up Techgentsia, will henceforth be used by various State government departments for online discussions.
The State Cabinet meeting on Wednesday approved the use of V Consol by government departments. As many as 10,000 ports would be used for videoconferencing in the initial stage.
Techgentsia has agreed to provide VConsol free of cost to the Kerala government for five years in lieu of free office space of 15,000 sq ft on the Infopark campuses at Kochi and Cherthala.
The company won the Innovation Challenge contest organised by the Union Ministry of IT and Electronics in 2020.
The Central government is currently using the system in the name Bharat VC. The online sittings of the Kerala High Court rely on this platform. The clientele for this software solution also includes prominent institutions like the Comptroller and Auditor General, Bhabha Atomic research centre, Indian Plasma Research Institute, Indian Navy and Kerala Election Commission.
