Stat breakdown shows how Jarvis Landry killed the Ravens from the slot

Jarvis Landry was a major mismatch in favor of the Cleveland Browns when the wideout aligned in the slot against the Baltimore Ravens. “Juice” flowed at will from the slot, and the Ravens had no way to bottle him up.

According to Next Gen Stats, Landry did almost all of his 167 yards fo damage while working out of the slot. It was Landry’s biggest output as a Brown, and he could have had more if he didn’t have to leave the game early with a concussion.

His receiving chart from Next Gen illustrates the routes and alignments where Landry got his catches. He was lethal from the left slot:

Landry averaged 3.9 yards of separation on routes from the slot, and he was targeted on 44 percent of the routes he ran from the slot. Baker Mayfield identified the mismatch and kept feeding Landry. He gained 154 of his 167 receiving yards on those passes.

Hopefully Landry can get cleared from the concussion protocol and back on the field in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers.
