Starz's Outlander Prequel Series Casts Four Key Character Roles

Outlander Blood of My Blood

The highly anticipated 'Outlander' prequel series at Starz, titled 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood,' has recently made waves with the announcement of four talented actors joining the cast to portray younger versions of key characters from the original show.

The newly added actors are Rory Alexander, known for his work in 'Inland' and 'Pistol,' Sam Retford from 'Hoard' and 'Ackley Bridge,' Séamus McLean Ross of 'Rebus' and 'Payback,' and Conor MacNeill, recognized for his roles in 'The Tourist' and 'Industry.'

Rory Alexander will take on the role of a young Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, originally portrayed by Duncan LaCroix, while Sam Retford steps into the shoes of Dougal MacKenzie, previously played by Graham McTavish. Séamus McLean Ross will embody Colum MacKenzie, originally brought to life by Gary Lewis, and Conor MacNeill will portray Ned Gowan, first played by Bill Paterson.

Matthew B. Roberts, the showrunner and executive producer of 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood,' expressed excitement about expanding the season one cast with these beloved characters from the 'Outlander' universe. The series aims to delve into the early journeys of these fan-favorite characters, offering viewers a deeper understanding of their backgrounds.

In addition to the newly announced actors, the series features Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield, Jeremy Irvine, and Tony Curran in lead roles. 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood' will focus on the love stories of Jamie's parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, as well as Claire's parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, set in different time periods - the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and WWI England.

The 10-episode first season of 'Blood of My Blood' is currently in production in Scotland, with the series officially greenlit by Starz in January 2023. The show is a continuation of the 'Outlander' universe, as the original series is set to conclude with its eighth season. The final episodes of Season 7 are scheduled to air later this year, while production on the last 10 episodes of the main series is set to commence soon.

The prequel series is in good hands, with executive producers Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, and Maril Davis leading the project under their Tall Ship Productions banner. Diana Gabaldon, the author of the 'Outlander' book series, serves as a consulting producer, with Story Mining & Supply Company also on board as executive producers. Sony Pictures Television is the studio behind the production of this highly anticipated addition to the 'Outlander' franchise.
