Starving teenager found wandering the M1 after 'arriving by lorry'

An exhausted teenager who is believed to have entered the country illegally was found wandering along the M1.

Police constable Martin Willis, who is also known as 'Motorway Martin', said he found the teenager near junction 40 (Wakefield), shortly after 12.05am on Monday, April 20.

He tweeted:"Just picked up a young Iranian from the outside lane of the M1.

"He had arrived by lorry, was very thirsty, hungry and could hardly stand.

"It is tragic that in the midst of this global crisis, there are many people that still have no other option than to risk their lives like this."

West Yorkshire Police said the teenager now in the care of social services.
