An investigation has been launched after a heavily pregnant dog was found covered in cuts and sores on a street in Aberdeenshire.
The young white and tan lurcher was discovered in the Fraserburgh area on October 9 before being handed in to a police station.
The Scottish SPCA was called in after it was noticed that the pooch was severely emaciated and covered in fleas.
Inspectors found wounds on her back legs and small cuts over other parts of her body.

The animal was not wearing a collar when she was found but did have a yellow strap around her neck.
Scottish SPCA inspector Ally Campbell said, “The dog is a young, tan and white lurcher, who is heavily pregnant and severely emaciated.
“She was not wearing a collar when she was found, but did have a yellow strap around her neck.
“The poor dog also has fleas, sores on her back legs, and small cuts over other parts of her body.
“She is now receiving the care she needs at one of our rescue centres.
