Nazia Nasreen, CEO of Irabheem Toy House, explains why the business should win the Startup of the Year category of the Guardian Small Business Showcase competition:
Ibraheem Toy House is the UK’s first online Islamic toy store founded by the mother of two, Nazia Nasreen. Sixteen months ago the company started selling four products on Facebook, now they stock over 98 different products and work with 30 different suppliers from around the world.
The demand for unique fun Islamic toys has made Ibraheem Toy House the Toys “R” Us for the Muslim community. Nazia’s one women team has increased to three people, who work on marketing, accounts and graphics and all stock is now stored and shipped from a fulfillment centre.
The success of the company is all down to the excellent customer service and the personal story of a young professional Muslim mother making children proud of their religious identity by making Islamic learning fun. Customers connect with Nazia and understand her passion for the business. It also helps that Ibraheem Toy House stock the coolest toys and books for little Muslims.
All entries which meet the competition criteria are published and our judging panel select a shortlist of the top three for each category. Winners are announced at an awards ceremony in summer 2016.
