Startup of the year 2014: Vertex Access

Name: Vertex Access
Based: Rotherham
Website: vertexaccess.co.uk

Here at Vertex, meeting the customers’ needs is one of our top priorities. Our access solutions are both cost and time effective, while keeping health and safety at the forefront of what we do.

From month six to 12 we recorded a 100% increase in business, showing that our innovative access solutions are the option of choice, with traditional and sometimes unsafe scaffolding taking a back burner.

One of our recent contracts has been with Amey on the Streets Ahead maintenance project in Sheffield. The 25-year project, with most of the work taking place in the first five years, aims to improve the streets of Sheffield, including paths, streetlights, bridges and rivers.

It is our innovative rope access that has allowed us to work in the structures department of the project and provide our services to improve the river walls.

Erecting scaffolding on an uneven river bed is an almost impossible task, and can prove both costly and time consuming whilst trying to maintain the level of safety needed. By providing an abseil rig which complies with BS EN 795 and 7985 standards, workers are able to gain efficient access to complete repointing, de-vegetation and maintenance with the option of increased mobility rather than the static option once provided by a bulky scaffold structure.
