Simbrix is a creative craft toy that solves the problem of easy breakage (pre-ironing) in fusion bead toys. The individual bricks connect to each other, as opposed to on a peg board, so you are not limited in the size and scope of your design. You can choose to iron what you’ve created, and keep a permanent tribute to your talents, or leave it in its robust form, for as long as you want, until you are ready for the next project.
The beads come in a bag of around 3,000, with which you can create hundreds of creations, all at once. We have tested our product rigorously and put it in front of over 400 people, of all ages, and we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback.
We have the privilege of having the patronage of [fantasy author and entrepreneur] Ian Livingstone CBE and his advice and guidance has been crucial in our development.
We are gearing up for a launch on Kickstarter in February. If funded, we plan on using the money to start the first full-scale production of Simbrix. So far we have been working on a shoestring budget with a little support from Nottingham Trent University, The Manufacturing Advisory Service, Nottingham City Council and a very small but hard working team.
We will focus our marketing efforts on social media to gain interest from future customers. This has included creating our own YouTube tutorials and a documentary series about the project.
