Silver Moor Business Consulting is a small consultancy practice based in north Somerset. The focus of our work is managing the ‘human factor’ – solving business problems where human error is the main factor. This involves investigating business processes, features of the workplace and organisational culture to understand why people are behaving the way they do. With this understanding we help clients to reduce the likelihood of errors, or at least mitigate the consequences.
The work we do can range from investigating serious accidents through to modelling significant changes that an organisation is facing, providing spreadsheet-based tools to help clients understand costs and operational risks.
As well as these as management consultancy services we also deliver training (at the clients’ premises) and provide coaching and mentoring services to businesses of all sizes.
John Baker, Silver Moor’s managing partner, created the business in December 2013. The first year of trading has been amazing, with projects completed in England, Wales and Scotland. This has included the successful start of operations on the Edinburgh Tram network, modelling the cost impact of major infrastructure changes for a main line rail operator, redesigning the driver competence development programme for a major bus operator and a programme of accident investigator training for a fire and rescue service.
