Cider, apple trees, Mappa Mundi, black and white houses, rolling countryside – why wouldn’t you want to visit Herefordshire? This is why Rural Concierge was born in October 2013.
My love for all things Herefordshire inspired me to take the brave step of creating my own business, sharing the wonders of Herefordshire and beyond. Using my passion for promoting the area and my knowledge of itineraries coupled with a love of meeting new people, I deliver a number of exciting and exclusive day trips for groups, clubs or individuals.
With the closure of so many tourist information centres (not just locally) Rural Concierge spotted a niche business opportunity. Taking my close working relationships with local tourism businesses and food producers, we have excelled in increasing visitor numbers and income to the area through themed bookable tours and bespoke itineraries.
During my first season, I organised a number of themed day trips for visiting groups, including two separate groups from North America and one from Switzerland. Successfully using search engine optimisation, I am now able to encourage international visitors to the area.
This year I am taking the business to the next level by opening a small booking kiosk in Hereford. Having gained tour operator status, I am now able to book overnight stays and arrange a complete package, plus be on hand for any advice.
I am well on the way to attaining my sales target of a 17% increase for this year.
