I design and make jewellery pieces, specialising in sterling, Swarovski and semi-precious materials.
Although I officially started the business last May, the dream of starting my own jewellery design business started when I was very young. After the chance discovery of a Victorian ‘gem’ in the garden while digging with my dad one Saturday morning, I fell completely in love with beads and gems, their formation, origins and, of course, their beauty.
That was about 35 years ago. It has taken me until now to gather the courage to follow my dream and try my best to turn it into reality. A severe and absolutely crippling lack of confidence stopped me from pursuing jewellery making when I was younger, and I ended up passing on some amazing opportunities.
Although my fears meant I never made it to university to study jewellery design I never stopped reading books, having ideas and dreaming of one day achieving my goal.
I lost my beloved dad to cancer in 2011 and am blessed with two amazing children of my own. I’m doing this for them but, most importantly, for me.
Who knows where I’ll be this time next year – and just think of the journey we’ll have on the way.
