Name: El Camino Bracelets
Based: Upper Brailes
Website: elcaminobracelets.com
All El Camino bracelets are handmade in England –they’re a way for people who love to travel to wear their memories from around the world.
The concept behind El Camino is to purchase a bracelet and then add steps (charms) for the countries, cities and other destinations that you’ve visited. It’s possible to buy custom steps for special memories unique to you.
El Camino was launched, later than planned, on December 27 2013 (just missing the Christmas rush!) by Tom and Candace, who’d come up with the idea while walking from Barcelona to Monaco.
A priority for El Camino has always been to use the highest quality materials, sourced responsibly and as locally as possible. The vast majority of El Camino’s production takes place in Warwickshire and Gloucestershire. The El Camino team is very proud of this and it’s also a great USP.
In the early days, El Camino was based in a treehouse with Tom and Candace making the bracelets, running the website, dealing with customer enquiries and arranging PR. However, the business has grown like wildfire.
In their first year of trading, El Camino dispatched thousands of orders to over 30 different countries. They largely put this down to word of mouth, firmly believing that no advertising campaign could ever have the same effect as a recommendation from a friend.
