Dialectable is a greetings card publishing company that began in February 2014. The cards incorporate local dialect and colloquialisms, and the designs are reminiscent of bygone times. They strike a chord with customers that lies somewhere between nostalgia and patriotism.
Over the last 11 months I have sold over 30,000 cards, and some retailers have said that Dialectable has become their top-selling brand. One told me I was their best seller after only 10 weeks on the shelves.
Consequently I have decided to branch into mugs and giftware. I market tested this in the run up to Christmas. The mug line is selling faster than I can supply, so in the short term I am selling these to a limited number of shops only. I’m in the process of importing in bulk to meet demand.
I have turned over in excess of £30,000 since my first order, and sales are now rapidly increasing. A combination of the new spring season and launch of the mugs has seen sales of £3,000 in the last week alone.
