'Starting over Trent!' - Chelsea fans delighted with Gareth Southgate's Reece James decision

Chelsea supporters are delighted after Reece James was confirmed in Gareth Southgate's England 26-man squad for the upcoming European Championships.

Southgate had an embarrassment of riches to choose from in James' position - with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier also selected, with a shock four right-backs included in the squad.

The Blues full-back enjoyed a terrific season on the right side of Chelsea's exceptional defensive line, with his Champions League final performance on Saturday evening epitomising his campaign.

Now, his form has been rewarded with a call-up to the Euros, with the Three Lions heavily tipped to compete for the trophy.

Fellow Blues stars Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount have also been called up to the squad, although their positions were never really in doubt given their form throughout the 2020/21 season.

Chelsea fans have been reacting to Southgate's decision on Twitter and it is safe to say they agree with his call.

Here's the England squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Man Utd), Sam Johnstone (West Brom), Jordan Pickford (Everton)

Defenders: John Stones (Man City), Luke Shaw (Man Utd), Harry Maguire (Man Utd), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Kyle Walker (Man City), Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa), Reece James (Chelsea), Conor Coady (Wolves), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid)

Midfielders: Mason Mount (Chelsea), Declan Rice (West Ham), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds)

Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Man Utd), Raheem Sterling (Man City), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Phil Foden (Man City), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)Back in 2020, James' England team-mate Alexander-Arnold delivered a glowing verdict on the Blues star.

England's first match of the tournament is against Croatia on Sunday, June 13.
