Start time, support acts and everything you need to know ahead of Westlife's Aviva Stadium gigs this weekend

Over 100,000 Westlife fans will flock to Dublin’s Aviva Stadium this weekend as the band kick off the Irish leg of their tour.

The Flying Without Wings hitmakers - made up of Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne - are headlining the stadium Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9.

And here’s everything you need to know ahead of the shows.

Who are the supporting acts and what are the stage times?

Special guests for Westlife at Aviva Stadium are Sugababes and Soulé. Soulé will kick off the evening from 6.30pm, followed by Sugababes at 7.30pm, before Westlife close the show from around 8.30pm.

Emeli Sandé and Wild Youth will join them next weekend as special guests at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in August.

What time does it start?

Gates open for both days at 6pm.

Organisers have warned no queuing will be allowed prior to this time.

They said: “This causes disruption to local residents, please heed this advice and respect the local community.”

Can you still buy tickets?

Tickets are available now at Ticketmaster.ie.

How to get there?

As traffic and parking delays are inevitable, concert goers are strongly encouraged to walk, bike, use public transportation or carpool.

Promoters are not licensed or operate public transportation to/ from the venue.

Organisers MCD added: “Plan your route and transport route in advance allowing at least an extra 2hrs travel time to/from the venue.”

There is no parking available on-site so promoters are encouraging gig-goers to use public transport.

• By DART: Extra DART services will operate before and after the concert. After the concert Grand Canal Dock DART station will be closed, passengers travelling home should board at Lansdowne Road DART station. Full details www.irishrail.ie

• By BUS: Dublin Bus Routes 4, 7/a, 39a, 46a, 145 and 155 will all have a full service. These routes are the closest to venue. Full details www. dublinbus.ie

• By CAR: Please use public transport. NO parking at venue - Use city centre carparks.

Taxi drop off: Suggested locations are junction of Pembroke Road/ Nortumberland Road or Junction of Tritonville Road and Hebert Road depending on which colour road your ticket is for.

Age restrictions

Under 16s must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian over 18, take full responsibility and remain with them throughout the event. Strict age monitoring will be in place.

Unaccompanied under 16s will be refused entry without refund.

What can you bring?

A4 size bags and smaller are all that is permitted to enter.

Backpacks, large handbags, umbrellas, glass or cans, alcohol, personal seating of any kind, selfie sticks, flares, professional cameras, iPads and GoPro’s are among the list of prohibited items.

Promoters and An Garda Síochána reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone

deemed to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Everyone will be subject to a search permissible under law and a condition of ticket purchase and entry.

The Aviva Stadium is a no smoking environment. Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes and nicotine vapourisers, is not permitted in any part of the Stadium.

Where else are they playing?

They will also play Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Cork next Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13, 2022.

The band will also play Wembley Stadium for the first time this August and at the SSE Arena in Belfast in December.

After an eight year hiatus, Westlife returned to music in 2018.

Their reunion has since included two albums hitting the number one,number two spots in the UK charts and their fastest selling tour of all time.

Westlife have sold more than 55 million records worldwide and are the only band to have had their first seven singles enter the UK chart at No.1.

Their ‘Twenty Tour’ sold a record 600,000 tickets across 27 cities and 13 countries, including two sold out shows at Croke Park, Dublin (150,000 tickets).
