Chelsea duo Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James continued their comebacks from injury with the Under-23s against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
Hudson-Odoi celebrated signing his new five-year deal with the club by opening the scoring for the Blues at St. Mary's in the second half.
Hudson-Odoi latched onto a ball from Charlie Gilmour to poke a shot past the keeper and into the net with a little over half an hour remaining of the match, and the fans were ecstatic with the news.
Hudson-Odoi provided another large contribution while on the pitch, sending in a corner that eventually led to the second goal for the visitors in a 2-0 win.
The 18-year-old winger and James were both afforded over an hour on the trip to the South Coast, with Andy Myers substituting the duo after 75 minutes.
With a tough fixture against Liverpool up next for the senior team on Sunday afternoon, neither player will feature in the Premier League this weekend.
But a Carabao Cup fixture back at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening could provide the perfect fixture for the young stars to get back into first-team football.
Frank Lampard will have been keeping a close eye on the game, with each star hoping to push for a place in his starting XI this season.
