Start a new chapter at the 47th Book Fair

Time to get more shelf space as the 47th National Book Fair and Bangkok International Book Fair 2019 begins on Thursday. Splurge on good deals at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from now until April 7. The book fair has always been popular for its staggering amount of titles and publishers that always fill the halls. From lesser-known independent publishers to big names, visitors can experience the vast literary landscape of Thailand right in one place.

On top of promotions and discounts, the fair also comes with a packed line-up of activities to cater for all interests and age groups.

Highlights (Activities are held at the main stage unless stated otherwise):

Friday

1-2pm - Be a part of the discussion on the increasing popularity of the yaoi novel (a genre that revolves around a romantic relationship between male characters).

March 30

10am-5pm - Potterhead alert! Drop by Meeting Room 3 for a celebration of magic and the launch of J.K. Rowling's Thai-translated script of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald and the illustrated version of The Tales Of Beedle The Bard.

1-2pm - Chulamanee, author of the novel that has now become hit TV soap Krong Kam on Channel 3, takes the stage to discuss her novel and the e-book platform Meb.

March 31

12-1pm - The makers of the hit TV series Leud Kon Khon Jang (In Family We Trust) discuss adapting their series into a novel.

1-5pm - Learn the ins and outs of a ketogenic diet with Thai Keto Pal at Meeting Room 3.

3-4pm - Book publisher Jamsai and GMM TV bring the cast of their new series Boy For Rent. The story was adapted from a popular novel of the same name.

April 3

8pm - BNK48 fans can't miss the launch of its member's new book, Orn The Way, by Orn BNK48 about her journey in Italy.

April 4

9am-7pm - At Meeting Room 1-2, join the TK Forum 2019 on the topic of "Design Library, Engage Community". There will also be a free screening of Frederick Wiseman's documentary film Ex Libris: The New York Public Library, which won the FIPRESCI Award from the Venice International Film Festival 2017.

April 7

8am-5pm - Punica Publishing presents "The 8th Punica 4D Reality Meeting: Rhapsody Of Black" for fans of the Black Fantasy cartoon. Meeting Room 1-2 is set to be filled with booths and talent for special meet-and-greets and games, plus an opportunity to purchase special merchandise. Guests at the event will include MaleRose, Iink the Hunt, Mint Sweat 16, Bookiezz and more. There will be a concert from 2-4pm. The gate will open at 9am. Registration and ticketing start at 8am.
