Jan. 19--The Chicago Blackhawks were without Daniel Carcillo when they took the ice for their game against the Dallas Stars on Sunday night at the United Center.
The veteran winger is suspended pending a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety following Carcillo's cross-check on the Jets' Matheiu Perreault during Friday night's game.
Summary
Cody Eakin had two goals and an assist, Tyler Seguin a goal and an assist and Vernon Fiddler, Erik Cole and Shawn Horcoff also scored to propel the Stars to a 6-3 victory. The Hawks got two goals from Brandon Saad and a Patrick Kane tally but fell for the third time in their last four games.
Key moment
With the score knotted at 3-3 early in the third period, the Stars put together a pretty passing play during a power play with Eakin finishing. Jamie Benn started the sequence with a pass to Seguin near the left post, who then found Eakin with a cross-crease feed and the center buried it for the game-winner.
Big number
300: Including playoffs, consecutive sellouts at the United Center for the Hawks.
Roster report
With Carcillo suspended until his hearing the NHL's Department of Player Safety, Joakim Nordstrom, who had been a healthy scratch the previous two games, drew into the Hawks' lineup. Also sitting was defenseman David Rundblad. Out for the Stars were Trevor Daley, David Schlemko and Curtis McKenzie.
