Stars set Strikers 150 to win BBL clash

Some lusty hitting at the death from Nic Maddinson has lifted the Melbourne Stars from potential embarrassment to 7-149 in their BBL clash against the Adelaide Strikers.

Maddinson (48 not out) smoked Daniel Worrall for back-to-back sixes to close the Stars' innings and give his side some momentum at Adelaide Oval.

Marcus Stoinis (47) was the only other batsman to look the part against a disciplined Strikers attack which had held them in check for the most part.

Adelaide bowled two maidens in the powerplay before they were helped by some soft dismissals.

Underachieving West Indian import Andre Fletcher (12) mixed two towering sixes with a swag of dots before spooning a Wes Agar full toss to Ryan Gibson at mid-on.

Nick Larkin (18) was bowled by a googly from Rashid Khan, who was on a hat-trick when Stars skipper Glenn Maxwell fell for his second successive golden duck.

Maxwell was caught by Danny Briggs at backward point when he played at a wide delivery.

Stoinis was given a life when Jon Wells dropped him on the boundary but he departed next ball, bunting Agar to Jake Weatherald at point.

Worrall snared Seb Gotch (11) and Adam Zampa (1) in his penultimate over before Maddinson teed off at him at the end.

The bulk of the wickets were shared between Agar (2-19), Worrall (2-29) and Rashid (2-29), who signed off in style in his last game for Adelaide before flying to Dubai on Afghanistan one-day international duties.
