Stars of X Factor, Britain's Got Talent and The Voice to hit Ayrshire stage

It's the unlikely talent tale scripted just miles apart.

Stars of the X Factor, Britain's Got Talent and The Voice - all from the one corner of Ayrshire - have helped put the region on the singing map.

Now they will reunite for a gig with a difference at the Gaiety Theatre next week.

The MacDonald Brothers, Jai McDowall and Jeremy Levif - all household names in their own right - will celebrate their individual success stories honed in this part of the world.

Alongside Irvine's Blair Gilmour, rising star of 'The Voice Kids' fame, the four acts are returning by popular demand to stage the second coming of The Ayrshire Lads.

It follows a sell-out show last year, leading to producers aiming even higher this time round with a two night run.

Brian MacDonald, who alongside brother Craig shot to fame in the 2006 series of the X Factor, told Ayrshire Live: "It's still surreal to us...the thought of doing two nights at the Gaiety is a very big deal.

"Selling that number of seats takes a bit of doing and it's a major thing for us considering we were on the X Factor 16 years ago now.

"You think these things are always a risk but we've been blown away by the demand for the shows."

The brothers have enjoyed a jet-setting lifestyle since their fame at the hands of TV's Mr Nasty, Simon Cowell, and spend much of their gigging year on cruise ships.

Craig added: "We've been very fortunate and have always said that the show was great for us, which is not the case for a lot of acts that go on.

"Our diary is still really busy, but that's what makes gigs at home like this so special.

"When we all came together last year, it was the first time we'd even performed with Jai, which is crazy when you think about it."

Jai, who originally hails from Tarbolton, won the fifth series of Britain's Got Talent in 2011 and is another name on the star-studded bill.

He said: "Of all the gigs I do, this is probably the one I'd get most nervous for. I remember looking out into the audience last year and seeing so many people I knew!

"It's great to be doing the two nights this time and having a proper run at it. I know of people coming up from England and making a weekend of it.

"Nothing beats performing in your home theatre and I know we all feel the same in that regard."

Frenchman Levif, who has adopted Ayrshire as his home county, is also on a bill which will be hosted by comedian Des Clarke and feature comedian Billy Kirkwood.

Show producer Edd Holloway added: "The boys' story is incredible. For all of these acts to come from Ayrshire and do what they've done on the big stage would sound far-fetched to most people.

"It's almost a documentary in the making and we're already in talks to that end.

"We're on the way towards two sell-out nights here and it shows the demand for the lads is really strong.

"Who knows what the future may hold in terms of taking the show elsewhere, but there's all sorts of possibilities."

Limited tickets for the shows, next Thursday and Friday, February 9 and 10, are available from https://thegaiety.co.uk/events/the-ayrshire-lads-2/
