Stars of Derry Girls, Normal People and more to take part in RTE Comic Relief fundraiser

Some of Ireland's leading lights from the music and TV world are set to come together for a special Comic Relief night, to be broadcast on RTÉ.

Taking place on June 26, the charity event promises to bring together the very best of Irish entertainment for a number of good causes.

Among those taking part on the night will the stars of two of Ireland's biggest TV shows in the last number of year - Normal People and Derry Girls.

They'll be joined by One Direction's Niall Horan, Hozier, Amy Huberman and many more.

In a post shared on social media, RTÉ said: "RTÉ, in association with Comic Relief, will bring the cream of Irish comedy and entertainment together to raise a laugh, as well as much-needed funds for the Irish charity sector on Friday, June 26.

"Hosted by Deirdre O'Kane, Nicky Byrne, Jennifer Zamparelli and Eoghan McDermott, the night promises to bring together the very best of Irish entertainment for a number of good causes. 

"You can expect performances and appearances from a whole host of Irish stars including Dara Ó Briain, Hozier, Amy Huberman, Chris O'Dowd, Jason Byrne,  Normal People' s Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, Andrew Scott, Nathan Carter, Niall Horan, Paul Howard, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Soulé, Lenny Abrahamson, Zig & Zag, Christy Moore, The  Derry Girls , and many, many more..."

The show will be broadcast live from RTÉ studios from 8pm on RTÉ One, with links to Irish talent across the country and further afield.

According to RTÉ, the charity partner for the event is The Community Foundation for Ireland, who will distribute the funds raised.

"One of Ireland's leading philanthropic organisations with extensive expertise in grant-making in Ireland, the Community Foundation for Ireland was established in 2000 and has a strong working relationship with over 4,000 non-profit organisations at a national, regional and local level throughout Ireland."
