Starmer says Rayner ‘did the right thing’ over underpaid stamp duty

  • Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has publicly supported Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner after she admitted not paying enough stamp duty on her £800,000 second property in Hove.
  • During Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch questioned why Ms Rayner remained in office following her self-referral to the ethics adviser.
  • Sir Keir stated that Ms Rayner “did the right thing” and expressed pride in sitting alongside her.
  • He praised Ms Rayner's work on building homes and workers' rights, and highlighted her working-class background.
