Starlin Castro not in Cubs' lineup, cuts loom

March 24--MESA, Ariz. -- Chicago Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro apparently will get Tuesday off as he celebrates his 25th birthday.

Castro, who hasn't been nagged by a tight right groin, isn't listed in the B game lineup Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Sloan Park or against the Oakland Athletics at HoHoKam Park.

Kris Bryant is scheduled to work in the outfield but will start at third base against the A's.

The Cubs likely will make cuts before Wednesday night's game against the Seattle Mariners at Peoria. Outfielder Albert Almora is likely headed to the minors soon but has made a strong impression with a .381 batting average, a .409 on-base percentage and fearless and flawless defense.

"Everyone says it's an up and down game, so you just have to ride the roller coaster," Almora said earlier this month. "And just go back to your routine and the basics and finding your swing again until it comes back."

Here are the Cubs' lineups:
