Stardew Valley-like farming sim with a romanceable "supernatural serial killer" gets an August release date, with a demo coming soon

The gorgeous pixel art blend of horror game and farming sim, Grave Seasons, finally has a release date, with it officially set to arrive this August.

Specifically, as confirmed in today's Xbox Partner Preview, it'll be arriving on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC on August 14. It'll also be coming to PS5 and Nintendo Switch on the same date.

Grave Seasons has been one to watch ever since its reveal. Described as a "narrative farming sim with a terrifying twist" on its Steam page, it takes the farming sim gameplay of games like Stardew Valley and Story of Seasons – normally a very wholesome genre – and mixes it with the horror of someone in the town being a "supernatural serial killer."

So, as well as tending to your crops, you'll also be investigating the murders and trying to prevent more from happening – befriending the townsfolk and completing their quests will have an impact on how the story plays out. Perhaps most importantly, yes, there's romance in the game, and yes, you can fall in love with the killer. I'm honestly not sure if that'd make you the safest person in the town, or the one most at risk, but I can almost guarantee most folks will be trying it out.

If that sounds as good to you as it does to me, then there's some extra exciting news – developer Perfect Garbage has confirmed that a demo will be arriving soon, too, although there's currently no date on that. We'll just have to watch this space, but for now, the countdown is on to August 14.

For now, be sure to check out our roundup of new games for 2026 and beyond.
