NEW DELHI: Kolkata Knight Riders delivered a clinical bowling performance to dismiss Sunrisers Hyderabad for a mere 113 runs in the Indian Premier League final in Chennai on Sunday. This total marked the lowest ever in an IPL final.
The Knight Riders' bowlers, led by Mitchell Starc (2/14), Andre Russell (3/19), and Harshit Rana (2/24), were highly effective as Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled to make an impact in the crucial match.
Opting to bat first, Sunrisers Hyderabad faced a disastrous start, losing key batsmen Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head with just six runs on the board.
Abhishek Sharma was bowled by Starc with a superb delivery, while Travis Head fell for a first-ball duck to an excellent outswinger.
Further trouble ensued for Sunrisers as Starc dismissed Rahul Tripathi, leaving them reeling at 21/3 in the fifth over.
Harshit Rana, as the first-change bowler, continued the momentum by claiming the wicket of Nitish Reddy, while Andre Russell removed Aiden Markram to further dent Sunrisers' innings at 62/5 in the 11th over.
Unfortunately for Sunrisers, they could not recover from this dire situation, ultimately succumbing to a low total against Knight Riders.
