The most festive time of the year has officially come to Starbucks, as the coffee chain has unveiled its new holiday cups.

On Thursday, Starbucks announced that the red and green cups, which this year feature sparkles, ribbon and polka dots, will be available starting Friday, 6 November in the United States and Canada.

According to Starbucks, the theme of this year’s cups is “Carry the Merry,” which it said is an “invitation to enjoy the little moments of brightness around you”.

The highly anticipated cups will also mark the beginning of the Starbucks seasonal drinks, which this year include peppermint mocha, toasted white chocolate mocha, caramel brulee latte, chestnut praline latte and eggnog latte.

The brand has also revealed that it will be giving customers who order seasonal drinks a reusable version of one of the new limited-edition holiday cups while supplies last.

Starbucks’ food offerings will also be festive, with the chain revealing its menu will include a sugar plum cheese danish, snowman cookie and cake pop, as well as a new cranberry orange scone.

While most people were excited at the news, some Starbucks fans mourned the loss of the gingerbread latte, which the company stopped offering last year.

“The gingerbread latte is the best one. Please bring it back,” one disgruntled customer wrote on Twitter.

Another said: “Honestly I cannot believe Starbucks isn't reviving the gingerbread latte after my MANY complaints last year.”

Starbucks first unveiled its seasonal cups in 1997. The beloved tradition turned slightly controversial in 2015 when the coffee chain was accused of creating cups that were not “Christmas-themed enough.”
