It might be hard to think of warmer times right now, but hopefully Starbucks latest drink will help.
Introducing their new drink innovation, the Cloud Macchiato, an irresistibly light and fluffy beverage is available in two flavours: Iced Vanilla Bean Cloud Macchiato and Iced Caramel Cloud Macchiato.
Prices starting from £3.40 and the drinks available in selected stores across the UK from today (Thursday 5 March) for a limited time only. We’re not entirely sure when these will disappear from Starbucks but they sounds too good to miss.
The speciality drinks are made with deliciously light, whipped milk foam and a shot (or two) of Starbucks Blonde espresso, which is then poured into a caramel or vanilla flavoured foam to create the visually stunning hallmark layers of the Macchiato. Then the finishing touch of either caramel or vanilla bean drizzle is added.
Neil Littler, Senior Marketing and Product Manager, Starbucks UK says: “The new Iced Cloud Macchiato takes inspiration from the traditional style of Italian meringue. We’ve reinvented the classic iced Macchiato, the new Cloud cold foam is like nothing else on our menu, irresistibly light and fluffy.”
Alongside the Cloud Macchiato, Starbucks also rolled out a number of new food and drink items , including a trio of Blonde Macchiato flavours.
The classic coffees, priced from £2.95, offer customers a smoother, lighter roast and are made using an espresso shot with steamed milk and a dash of flavoured syrup.
There have also been a number of new food items with lots of vegan options, including smoky jackfruit and grains bowl dish and chocolate and coconut overnight oats.
Earlier this month, Starbucks also launched a limited edition mermaid cookie priced at £1.89. The coffee company teamed up with family-run bakery Cakehead to design the cookie, which is made from a buttery shortbread and glazed with icing using natural colourings for its striking blue and purple decoration.
The cookie was created to raise money for the charity, Mermaids with 50p from the price going straight to charity.
Mermaids is a charity which provides support to young transgender people and their families, and the coffee chain has pledged to raise £100,000 to help with the costs of running the charity's helpline services.
Starbucks are encouraging customers to show support for the money-raising campaign on social media by striking a pose with their cookie and posting the photo using the #whatsyourname.
