Starbucks creates 16 jobs as new drive-thru opens in Victoria Retail Park

A brand new Starbucks drive-thru has opened in Netherfield, creating 16 jobs.

The new coffee shop opened in Victoria Park Way on Thursday, February 25, with Nottingham's own Paralympic gold medallist Richard Whitehead attending for the ribbon cutting.

Starbucks says it will be managed by one of the company's licensees, Soul Coffee, which will also be donating to local charity, Footprints, as part of the opening.

Mr Whitehead, who set world records for Team GB in both the full and half marathon, is a patron for the Sneinton-based mobility charity.

He was presented with a £1,000 cheque to be donated to the charity during the ribbon-cutting event on Thursday.

In accordance with the latest government guidance amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the store will be for takeaway orders only.

While seating is not available for use inside the store, customers can still order for takeaway.

Mobile order and pay and drive-thru services will be fully available to all customers, while delivery will be available via Uber Eats from Monday, March 1.

Beata Grabowska, Soul Coffee House Limited district manager, said: "We are excited to open our new store in Nottingham and becoming a part of the local community.

"The team are closely following the latest guidance from both the government and health authorities to keep everyone safe."

Conditional planning permission was granted last year in July for the new coffee shop, and the leader of Gedling Borough Council, John Clarke, welcomed the proposals.

He said: "I welcome anything that helps boost our local economy and I’m sure this new development will be incredibly popular.

"Businesses like these help create jobs in our area, not only once they open their doors but also during the building process."

Work is currently well-underway at a separate Starbucks drive-thru off Queens Road in Nottingham, opposite Dunelm.
