Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker teaser from D23 released online

A new look at Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been revealed on Good Morning America, shortly after fans were given a glimpse of the film at Disney fan expo D23

The clip reveals Rey wielding a new double-bladed red lightsabre, which was first shown in the D23 footage and has sparked fan discussions as to whether she has turned to the dark side.

Classic footage shows the Star Wars saga in its early days, including a shot of the late Carrie Fisher as Princess-turned-General Leia.

Daisy Ridley told attendees at D23: “I think that it should hopefully show people that we did a big old journey and we explored some things. So just you wait until the film.”

Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita N’Yongo, Kellie Marie Tran, Domhall Gleeson, Joonas Suotamo, Jimmy Vee, Naomi Ackie and Mark Hamill are among the returning stars who will appear in the forthcoming film. It will also include archival footage of Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released in cinemas worldwide on 20 December.
