Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be screened on the International Space Station so Tim Peake and fellow astronauts can watch

Astronauts on board the International Space Station will get the chance to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In what is almost certainly the best screening experience of anyone in the known universe, Tim Peake and the new arrivals on the ISS will get to watch the film on a projector on board.

Major Peake was asked on Twitter whether his leaving the Earth on 15 December made him upset, since it was only two days before the new Star Wars film was released to the world. But the first official British astronaut on board the space station said that it would be fine.

Reaction to the tweet was mostly characterised by envy — with almost everyone agreeing that it was almost certainly the best place to watch the film, though some also pointed out the dangers.

“Very jealous!!” wrote one user named Carolyne. “Stay away from the Death Star!!”

Major Peake will soon arrive at the International Space Station, where he will stay for six months. During that time, he will take part in a huge number of experiments and tests.
