‘Star Wars’ series ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ starring Ewan McGregor gets a release date

Ewan McGregor is ready to reprise a role he held a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” — the latest live-action “Star Wars” series — will be released on May 25 on the Disney+ streaming service, Disney announced.

The limited series stars McGregor as the wise Jedi Obi-Wan, whom the actor portrayed in three “Star Wars” movies between 1999 and 2005.

“The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of ‘Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith’ where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader,” Disney said in its announcement.

Hayden Christian is set to reprise his role as Darth Vader in the series, while Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse and Kumail Nanjiani also star on the show.

Edgerton previously appeared as Owen Lars, the uncle of Luke Skywalker, in two “Star Wars” movies.
