The hype for the Rise of Skywalker is very real but fans should enjoy it while they can.
Despite plans for the Star Wars franchise to expand into television with The Mandalorian and a Cassian Andor limited series on streaming service Disney+, it looks like there will be a substantial break before any further Star Wars movies.
According to Making Star Wars, studio Lucasfilm wants to avoid the potential for Star Warts fatigue and give some breathing space between Episode 9 and the eventual new saga from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
"The Star Wars hiatus we are currently having after The Rise of Skywalker is to let the studio construction finish up and to allow the Weiss and Benioff to create the best possible saga without an unreasonable time crunch," reports the website.
"If all of this is accurate and at this time we believe that to be the plan, it seems like the responsible and smart way to handle the next saga."
Details are scarce on the new Star Wars saga, but production is believed to take place just outside of Pinewood Studios in the UK.
It has previously been revealed that we won't have seen the last of the sequel trilogy characters with episode 9, however.

The Rise of Skywalker, meanwhile, promises to bring an end to the Skywalker family saga, with Mark Hamill and the late Carrie Fisher reprising their roles as Luke Skywalker and his sister General Leia Organa, respectively.
Also, look out for the return of original trilogy stars Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian and Ian McDiarmid as Emperor Palpatine.
Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Anthony Daniels, Joonas Suatomo, Kelly Marie Tran, Naomi Ackie and Keri Russell also star.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
