'Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic' Director Comments on Game Length—Is it Long or Short?

The highly anticipated "Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic" is still far from release, but its director has recently shared an interesting comment about the title.

One of the circulating questions about "Star Wars: FOTOR" is how long the game's run time would be, and while there are still no official confirmations on this, the director may have given some information about it.

'Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic' Director Comments on Game Length

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, "Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic" director Casey Hudson talked about the game, which eventually led to a discussion the game's length.

While he did not give a specific runtime, he said that he wants to avoid making players feel like the game is dragging, like they have put in 20 hours already but end up feeling like they have not yet finished act one.

Hudson was direct about his frustrations with overly long games. He stated that "bigger isn't necessarily better," and he said that "A lot of players just want to play something and finish it."

According to GameRant, Hudson's comments suggest "Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic" could have a shorter runtime, making it different from many RPG titles.

Will 'Star Wars FOTOR' Be Long or Short?

Hudson was quick to note that the developers at Arcanaut Studios want the game to have lots of replay value, meaning players will be rewarded with branching storylines that alter the experience. Keeping the campaign shorter could also help the game arrive in a reasonable amount of time.

Hudson also continues to insist that "Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic" will arrive before 2030, though it remains to be seen whether that goal can be met.

"Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic" has multiple former "Knights of the Old Republic" developers, including Dan Fessenden, Caroline Livingstone, and Ryan Hoyle, which could result in an experience that feels faithful to what came before.
