‘Star Wars’ fanatic Sean Doolittle partied with a lightsaber after Nationals’ wild-card win

Nationals relief pitcher Sean Doolittle is easily the biggest Star Wars fan on the roster — maybe even in all of Major League Baseball — so when Washington beat the Milwaukee Brewers in an incredible comeback win Tuesday, thanks to the heroics of 20-year-old star Juan Soto — the left-handed pitcher broke out his blue lightsaber. Naturally.

After being down 3-1 for most of the NL Wild Card Game at Nationals Park, Soto singled to right field in the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded, and as Brewers right fielder Trent Grisham made a painful error, Washington scored and eventually won, 4-3.

The Nationals had a glorious clubhouse celebration after they clinched their spot in the Wild Card Game last week, and their late-night party before taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS didn’t disappoint either. But we’re here to highlight Doolittle, who didn’t actually have to play Tuesday.

The best part of Doolittle’s celebration is that he just happened to have his lightsaber with him in the clubhouse, because of course he did. This is the guy that had his own Jedi bobblehead for Star Wars Day at Nats Park earlier this season and whose Twitter name is Obi-Sean Kenobi Doolittle.

Here are the best captured moments of the reliever having a blast with his team and his Star Wars prop.
