Star Wars Episode 9 has released its trailer and title at Star Wars Celebration.
The much-anticipated footage has revealed the title of the upcoming end of the Skywalker saga and ninth film in the main Star Wars franchise as The Rise of Skywalker.
The trailer showed our first official hints at the plot of the new film and debuted at Star Wars Celebration on April 12, 2019.
The upcoming film will bring a conclusion to the conflict between the First Order and the Resistance, with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) as the new Supreme Leader of the former and Rey (Daisy Ridley) leading the force-sensitive of the latter.
We see clips of Rey fighting and using her lightsaber, whilst being chased by a First Order ship.
We even see a shot of a tearful embrace between Rey and Leia - which we can barely take.
There are multiple shots of the main cast in different terrains, before we finally see our central heroes arrive on a planet featuring what appears to be the ruins of the Death Star, complete with the cackling evil laugh of Emperor Palpatine.
Emperor Palpatine actor Ian McDiarmid appeared on stage to say "roll it again" in the Palpatine voice.
Eeeeeek.
Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker UK release date, Episode 9 cast, trailer
Episode 9 also stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Domnhall Gleeson, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, and a posthumous appearance from Carrie Fisher.
We can barely contain ourselves.
Star Wars Episode IX: is released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
