Star Wars Episode 9 has released its trailer and title at Star Wars Celebration.
The much-anticipated footage has revealed the title of the upcoming end of the Skywalker saga and ninth film in the main Star Wars franchise as The Rise of Skywalker.
The film will see Rey and the Resistance go head to head with the "greatest evil" in the saga, according to producer Kathleen Kennedy.
Footage showed all of our main cast members, including an emotional and tearful moment for Rey and General Leia Organa (the late greatCarrie Fisher).
We also got treated to scenes of Lando's return, new creatures, epic landscapes and finally the return of a familiar sound.
As Rey, Finn, Poe and co arrive on a desolate planet they see what looks like the ruins of the Death Star, as we hear the sound of Emperor Palpatine's cackle.
Palpatine actor Ian McDiarmid confirmed the character's presence by making a shock appearance at the Star Wars Celebration where the trailer and titled premiered.
We can barely contain ourselves.
It has really all come down to this.
At attendance at Star Wars Celebration were producer Kathleen Kennedy, director J.J. Abrams, along with stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and more.
At the event, a number of different promotional images of cast members and creatures and sets were shown.
British actress Naomi Ackie also remained cagey in regards to whether her character Jana is indeed the daughter of Lando Calrissian (a returning Billy Dee Williams).
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
