Star Wars comics illustrator to tour Northern Irish schools next week

An illustrator for comic books based on the Star Wars universe will be touring across schools in Northern Ireland this month, where she'll be workshopping with youngsters hoping to create their own comics.

Tanya Roberts is a comic artist from Edinburgh who has worked on big-name comics such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars,  Toy Story  and  How to Train Your Dragon , as well as her own series  Plagued: The Miranda Chronicles.

From Monday 24 February to Friday 28 February, Tanya will visit over 250 pupils in 10 different Northern Irish schools, as part of her 'Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour' (full list of schools below).

Tanya will work with Year 9 to Year 14 pupils through a series of workshops.

She will show young people how to create comics, focusing on aspects such as page layout and character design.

As well as discussing her own popular creations, Tanya will encourage the pupils to invent their own characters.

Tanya has worked in the comic industry for over a decade, during which time she's worked with the likes Disney, Dreamworks, Netflix, Marvel and more.

Speaking ahead of the tour, Tanya Roberts said: "I can’t wait to see what the students come up with in our workshops. I am always constantly surprised by the boundless imaginations of young people!

"What characters will we meet on our journey in Northern Ireland? We shall just have to wait and see.

Tanya will visit 10 schools over the course of five days, from February 24-28. See the full list of schools below:
