Sydney FC have lured star striker Adam Le Fondre back to the club in a major boost to their quest for a third consecutive A-League title.

Le Fondre, the Sky Blues' leading goalscorer in the past two seasons, is returning after a stint in India.

The Englishman was due to arrive in Sydney on Friday night and spend 14 days in isolation before re-joining the Sky Blues, who currently hold fourth spot.

The former Premier League striker has signed with Sydney for a further two years beyond this season.

"It's like I'm coming home and to know I have signed for even longer than last time is a fantastic feeling," Le Fondre said in a statement on Friday.

"I have watched all of our games this season and the boys have been doing well. I'm looking forward to helping them step it up again."

Le Fondre will team with Brazilian marksman Bobo and New Zealander Kosta Barbarouses to form a potent attacking trio for coach Steve Corica.

Bobo boasts the A-League's best goals-per-game ratio with 0.696 followed by Melbourne City's Jamie Maclaren (0.695) and Le Fondre (0.684).

"Adam did a fantastic job for us over the last two years and I've no doubt he will do it again," Corica said.

"He will give us another huge threat up front, on top of the fabulous players we already have here.

"It will be one more thing for the opposition defenders to worry about. I'm looking forward to watching how he works with our other strikers."
