Star hurdler Jyothi Yarraji clocks second career-best 100m time to win gold in Germany

NEW DELHI: Jyothi Yarraji, the national record holder, delivered an exceptional performance at the Kurpfalz Gala event in Weinheim, Germany, running her second career-best 100m hurdles race and securing the gold medal.

The 23-year-old clocked an impressive time of 12.84 seconds at the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger level meet, narrowly missing her national record of 12.82 seconds set last year.

Notably, this marked Jyothi’s first international 100m hurdles race of the season.

In the same competition, Amlan Borgohain, another national record holder, emerged victorious in the men's 200m race.

Despite facing a headwind of 0.2 m/s, Borgohain displayed remarkable speed, clocking a time of 20.66 seconds.

This marked Amlan’s third career-best timing, while his national record, set last year, stands at 20.52 seconds.

Meanwhile, Parul Chaudhary achieved a personal best in the women's 3000m steeplechase at the Los Angeles Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour gold level meet held in the USA.

Chaudhary completed the race in an impressive time of 9 minutes and 29.51 seconds, surpassing her previous best of 9 minutes and 38.29 seconds, which she had achieved last year. Her outstanding performance earned her a third-place finish in the event.
