Stanley Morgan gets a big chance with Bengals after John Ross injury

It’s Stanley Morgan time for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Morgan got the call from the team Wednesday after John Ross went to IR. And while there are reports the Bengals are working out wideouts, Morgan figures to get his chance against the Arizona Cardinals.

That sounds like the plan from Zac Taylor, per Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com:

“You watch Stanley on the practice field, and he’s dead tired from taking a thousand snaps on both sides of the ball. The guy competes his tail off. Those are just guys that impress you. You like the energy that they bring to the whole team.”

Morgan was the big-name undrafted free agent add for the Bengals this offseason after he set records at Nebraska.

But a combo of injury and stellar breakout play from fellow undrafted wideout Damion Willis relegated Morgan to the practice squad.

Until now. Where Morgan fits isn’t easy to say yet, but he’ll likely be asked to help an offense that suddenly doesn’t have any sort of speed element to space the field.

With A.J. Green out longer than expected, Morgan’s time to make a long-standing impression on a rebuilding team is now.
