Stanley knife blade found embedded in children's slide where it could have slashed open their legs

A Stanley knife blade was found glued to the inside of a slide at a children's park in Llanelli.

One of the grounds assistants found the blade at Penyfan Park during one of the daily inspections of all town council-managed parks.

A local councilor said they were "deeply concerned that an individual in our community could carry out such a reckless and dangerous act." You can read more stories about Llanelli here.

This knife, which could have slashed the legs of a child using the slide, causing serious injury, was immediately removed and the police have been made aware of the incident.

Llanelli Town Council has encouraged anyone with any information to contact Dyfed Powys Police. In the meantime, it encouraged parents and youngsters to be vigilant of play equipment safety when using parks.

An arson incident recently took place in the same park, where a bench at the bottom field was set on fire.

Cllr John Jenkins, Leader of Llanelli Town Council, said: "I am deeply concerned that an individual in our community could carry out such a reckless and dangerous act. My thanks to the town council staff member for their vigilance. The town council takes these incidents incredibly seriously and I would urge anyone with any information to urgently contact the police in order that this person can be dealt with."
