Stanford RB Bryce Love could fall in draft due to knee

With Latavius Murray signing with the Saints this offseason, the Vikings find themselves in need of a back-up running back.

Many believe that could come through the draft considering the running backs on the roster (Ameer Abdullah, Roc Thomas and Mike Boone) aren’t exactly inspiring.

One player who the Vikings could target in the draft is Stanford running back Bryce Love. Love was once considered to be a possible third-round pick. Now, it’s looking like he could fall.

Love, who tore his ACL in December, is experiencing some tightness in his knee which is causing some teams to worry.

Per Tom Peliserro of NFL Network:

That creates some concern for teams about whether or not Love is going to regain his prior movement — and in terms of his explosiveness — and even if he does, how long will it take him to get back to 100 percent.

Love is just a season removed from running for more than 2,000 yards with Stanford, so there’s talent there. Obviously, the Vikings trainers will need to trust their best judgment if they think Love can revert back to who he was.

If Love does drop in the draft and he’s indeed healthy, it could mean good things for the Vikings. While they don’t have their fifth-round pick, they do have two sixth-round picks and two seventh-round picks.
